Bishop Vann’s Statement on the Death of Auxiliary Bishop David O’Connell

February 22, 2023 at 3:08 am

“Together with Catholics throughout our state, we mourn the sudden and tragic passing of Bishop David O’Connell. A man of faith who passionately served the underserved — especially the poor, immigrants, mothers, children, families and inner-city Catholic school students — Bishop O’Connell will be greatly missed. He was a friend to the Diocese of Orange and me. We continue to pray for Bishop O’Connell’s family, his loved ones and the repose of his soul. May he rest in eternal peace.” – Bishop Kevin W. Vann, Bishop of Orange
