Entering the Jubilee Year of Hope

Pope Francis has declared 2025 the Jubilee Year of Hope (“Hope does not disappoint”), a sacred time to visit holy sites, perform acts of kindness, seek forgiveness for sins, and renew their relationship with God, one another, and creation.

Visit the St. Callistus Chapel and Crypts

The final phase of Christ Cathedral’s transformation has been completed with the opening of the St. Callistus Chapel and Crypts! The chapel is named in honor of the original St. Callistus parish, which moved to Christ Cathedral when the property was acquired by the diocese.

The Romano-Byzantine-style chapel, located beneath Christ Cathedral, was blessed and dedicated on October 14, the feast day of St. Callistus I. The chapel and crypts is now open to the public. Book a tour at the link below!

Deacon Victor Valenzuela serves as a deacon at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Placentia. A former seminarian, he is a licensed social worker who is retired from 31 years of employment at Kaiser Permanente. In this powerful podcast episode, Deacon Victor sits down with Fred LaPuzza, who serves as the Director of the Office of Restorative Justice with the Diocese of Orange.

Fred has been ministering to incarcerated individuals in adult county jails, children and youth in juvenile detention facilities and the county foster care system for the past 36 years. Among other things, they discuss many aspects of detention ministry; and, how God is working in powerful ways behind prison walls.
