Mission Statement
We train, equip, and organize leaders as missionary disciples to follow Jesus in solidarity with the poor and vulnerable. We lead our community to affirm a consistent ethic of life and promote the common good through public policy advocacy, prayer, education and pastoral care. Formed by the Gospel. Organized for Action. Rooted in Prayer.
Care for Creation: Laudato Si’ Action
Environmental Justice – Protect Our Common Home
Celebrate and contribute to the care for all creation. Find parish resources and bulletin inserts in English and Spanish helpful for Earth Day (April 22), and also for Laudato Si’ Week (May 22-29), at cacatholic.org/earthday.
Join us in acting to care for our common home. (1) Creation Care teams enable committed Catholics to lead the charge to solve climate change—together. We achieve more together, and united action is at the heart of this program. (2) Laudato Si’ Animators leadership development empowers you to bring Laudato Si’ to life. Figure out which network is best for you and your parish. Connect with these excellent opportunities and explore the many resources to get involved today!
Anti-Racism and Racial Justice
Pray. Learn. Act.
Pray
“Aid us, we pray, in overcoming the sin of racism. Grant us your grace in eliminating this blight from our hearts, our communities, our social and civil institutions.” Utilize this Prayer for Racial Healing for Our Land or one of the many others available below.
Learn
Read and study the Bishops’ recent pastoral letter against racism, Open Wide Our Hearts (available in English and Spanish), and utilize our study guide to deepen your prayer and learning.
Act
Share and discuss resources with your community including backgrounders on systemic racism and other related topics, educational materials for classrooms, and scripture reflections and look for opportunities for solidarity. Looking for ways to talk about working against racism with kids? The USCCB created a short storybook called, Everyone Belongs, about the reality of racism and our Catholic response.
WelcomeHome OC – Property Owner Network
Are you a property owner eager for guaranteed rent while also helping the community at large?
WelcomeHomeOC is a landlord incentive program that provides financial incentives such as double security deposits, sign-on bonus, holding fees, and other assurances for landlords who rent units in Orange County to individuals, Veterans, and families with a housing voucher.
The program is a joint effort between the United to End Homelessness initiative, Orange County United Way, Public Housing Authorities, and rental property owners to reduce the time involved in the search for housing by increasing the availability of rental units.
Learn more and share with a property owner that you may know.
Walking with Moms in Need
Caminando con las Mamas Necesitadas
Everyone should know how to help local pregnant and parenting women in need.
We support local pregnancy centers, clinics, and shelters and we find and share other resources with pregnant and parenting women. We hope you and your parish will join us in Walking with Moms in Need.
