Catholics of the Diocese of Orange are dispensed from the obligation to abstain from eating meat on Friday, March 17
In honor of the Feast day of St. Patrick, Bishop Vann wishes to announce that on Friday, March 17, all Catholics of the Diocese of Orange, no matter where they may be, and all other Catholics present in the Diocese of Orange on that day are dispensed from the obligation to abstain from eating meat (cf. canon 87 § 1).
While no one is required to make use of this dispensation, those who do so must abstain from meat on another day (not on a Sunday or Friday) during the Lenten season.
